At
the age of 17, Victoria
is probably the youngest trainee to successfully complete and pass
TEXT-AND-TALK’s
TEFL Course. In fact, there were, we believe, three interviews before
we finally admitted her. The reason was that we needed
assurance because of her young age that she would "stick it out" in our
rather demanding course; that if she took a teaching job she would keep
it; and that her parents might not accuse use of taking advantage of
her! Giving us, on each occasion, the "right" answer to each of these
concerns, Victoria was welcomed into our course by our kind and helpful
trainer, Mr David Solomon, and our Pattaya course director, Mr Corey
McKenzie.
Despite her determination to succeed,
Victoria was initially worried about completing the course. However, she
performed very well indeed and achieved a Pass
B level of performance (Certificate No. 001690), which for one so young
is a very outstanding
achievement. The following is Victoria's story told in her own words:
"Coming
to Thailand
from Hertfordshire, England
along with my father (a production manager for a local company), I have
been living
in Pattaya for the past 5 months.
I
have found the course challenging, but because I was very interested in
what was
being taught I was very motivated to complete this course to the best
of my
ability. My main aim now is to gain good
employment as a teacher and to be successful in my new career. Teaching
Thai
students in the TEXT-AND-TALK classroom gave me great satisfaction."
