The Seating Preference

On British Airways

(A True Story)

This scene took place on a British Airways flight between Johannesburg, South Africa and London, England.

A white woman, about 50 years old, was seated next to a black man.
Obviously disturbed by this,
she called the air hostess.
"You realize what you've done?" she snapped.
"You've  seated me next to a black man. I do not want to sit next to a coloured  person.
It distresses me, and I feel insulted. I want something done about it immediately."

"I'm sorry you feel that way. Please try to remain calm," the hostess replied. "Almost all seats on
this flight are taken, but I will go and check if another seat is available elsewhere."

The hostess went away and then came back a few minutes later. "Madam, just as I thought,
there are no other available seats in Economy
Class. I spoke to the captain
and he informed me that there is also
No seat in Business Class.
-  However, we do have one place in  First Class available."

The white woman beamed at this, but then the hostess continued.  -  "It is not usual protocol
to permit someone from  Economy Class to transfer free of charge to First Class - .
However, given the circumstances, the captain feels that it would be extremely distressing to
make someone sit next to someone else on such a long flight,
if they find  that person Sooooo disgusting."

She then turned to the black man, and said, "Sir, if you would, please collect your hand luggage,
and follow me. A seat awaits you in First Class."

At that moment, the other passengers, who'd been shocked by what they
were witnessing, applauded.

WELL DONE indeed, British Airways!
(This is a true story. Pass it on!)
