Wow!!!!
The Joys of TEFL Studies on
Beautiful
Phuket Island!
by Paul Camilleri,
Phuket TEFL Course Director
(paul@langserv.com)
Editor's Note:
Nowhere on earth are TEFL course trainees (and
their trainer!) so well looked
after as by Mr Paul Camilleri, our TEFL
Course Director in Phuket.
Thailand. Indeed, whether it be
where to find the best housing at the
lowest cost or where to buy a mobile phone or acquire a phone line,
ADSL service,
or a motorbike, no one is more happily and readily
available than Paul to help out as soon as he can. More than this,
as a multi-year resident of his beloved
Phuket, there are not many nooks or crannies that have escaped him
on
this warm, large, sprawling and intriguing island.
So if you are looking for fun, along with the best-suppored TEFL course
anywhere in the world,
you will know whom to contact, either before or
after you arrive!
Now, let's
hear it from Paul, himself....
WHERE
IS IT? –
Phuket
Island is situated
just off the
Southwestern coast of Thailand.
Travel time from Bangkok
is as
follows: 12 hours by bus, or one hour and 15 minutes by air to Phuket
International Airport.
Flying time to Phuket from both Kuala Lumpur
in Malaysia
and Singapore,
is
one hours and thirty minutes. Airfares are not at all expensive at the
present time. And, yes, we truly
believe this lovely island to be as safe a place to live and work as
any place in the world!
WHY
PHUKET? –
There are several reasons why you
should
choose Text and Talk’s modern and comfortable Patong Beach Academy to
undertake your TEFL studies. If you have already chosen to do our
course, you have chosen very wisely, indeed, the most relevant TEFL
course available. So, obviously, you will have the best study
materials and teaching – but who are the people running the course and
what are they like?
The
course director and the course trainer are a pair of Aussies who have
made Thailand
their home. Both Paul and Bob are experienced TEFL course managers,
whose focus
is on running the best TEFL course possible while at the same time
taking
great care of those intrepid souls who have decided on a future of
teaching English
in foreign lands. Bob is a very experienced teacher trainer with
excellent
teaching credentials. He is held in the highest regard by his
graduates. The Thai staff also are very friendly, and helpful, and
strive to make all
of our enrollees feel welcome. We
realize that we cannot replace your friends and family while you
are here, but we
strive hard to take care of you and your welfare while you’re
studying with us.
Phuket
Island
is one of the top five island tourist destinations in the world. It is
rich in natural beauty,
interesting history, lovely people, great food and
various
other attractions.
The west coast
beaches are beautiful and the Andaman
Sea is safe to swim in.
There are
diving trips, sea canoeing, elephant riding, Island tours and plenty more to keep you occupied on the three days weekends
during
the course. Mopeds can be hired for 3000 baht per month
and are an economical
way
to explore this wonderland. Just remember to always
drive cautiously and safely.
The roads are excellent for a self-drive tour of this magical place ,
stopping to take in the sights or to taste
some of the delicious food from the beach and roadside vendors. Dining at
Rawai
Beach on a clear evening
is something that should be experienced by all visitors!
For those who enjoy
the night life (so you say you don't?), Patong
Beach is the place to be. Renowned
for it’s party image, people from all corners of the world, congregate
to whoop
it up while letting their hair down. There are beer bars by the
hundreds,
discos, go-go bars, restaurants that cater to all food tastes, live
music and
markets selling anything you could possibly want, and things that you
have never
heard of, let alone seen before. A stroll down Bangla
Road at about 11pm
at night can be quite overwhelming for first-time visitors to
this famous street, which is probably while it
is known and talked about across the world! Elsewhere
there are bars and nightclubs catering for gay visitors and
for those
who like to see the famous Patong Beach
transsexuals stage shows. If fun nightlife is
what you're looking for, you will indeed say,
"Wow!"
If this scene isn’t your cup of tea, however, you can
hang out in the
other, quieter, 95% of the island. It’s easy to get away from it all
and enjoy
some peace and quiet. The choices are
endless, and the choices are yours, always.
